KEVIN DAVIS
& BAN CARIBE

Afro-Cuban rhythm. Caribbean spirit. Soul at the center.

Founded in 1984 by percussionist and vocalist Kevin Davis, Ban Caribe brings Latin and Caribbean rhythms together with soul and rhythm and blues. Kevin calls it “Clave Soul”—voices lifted by timbales, congas, bongos, maracas and claves.

A native New Yorker now based in Richmond, Virginia, Kevin studied in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica before continuing his education at Virginia State University.

GODFELLAZ

Rooted in the underground. Moving into a new chapter.

Emerging from the underground hip-hop scene of the late 1990s, GODFELLAZ built a following through raw live performances, intricate lyricism and Golden Era-inspired boom-bap production.

After years with their studio recordings tucked away in the vault, the original members reunited to bring that catalog to listeners. Street Warz and Wrath of Sinners carry that history forward, alongside new solo projects from members of the group.

The next GODFELLAZ album, Jibbareen Killah Assassinz, is coming soon.

Jibbareen connects the voices of GODFELLAZ with the Clave Soul of Kevin Davis & Ban Caribe.

For Eloheem, that connection is family. Kevin Davis is his stepfather. His late mother, Shakila, sang with Ban Caribe and managed the band’s affairs. Eloheem now carries that management work forward.

Shakila’s voice is also part of GODFELLAZ’s “Mighty Jibbareen,” where she sang the chorus. A song she and Eloheem recorded together years ago, never previously released, will appear on his forthcoming solo project.

In loving memory of Shakila.
Her voice remains part of the story.
